***New Nursing Assistant w/Clinical On-line Hybrid Course***

The 80-hour Nursing Assistant certificate provides the foundational knowledge and skills needed to work in hospitals, long term care facilities, assisted living facilities, home care agencies, etc. Students learn basic nursing skills including how to read and record vital signs. Provide personal cares, mobility assistance, and restorative care. Online Classroom, Skills lab, Clinicals and Skills Refresher are included in the course.

Prerequisite:

  • Must be 16 years of age to register.
  • Must have a computer with a web camera.
  • Background Check/Fingerprinting
  • Text Book for MN State Nursing Assistant Course
  • Scrubs & Watch w/second hand
  • Mantoux/TB Test

State exam will be available the following weekend at PTCC

Course Cost: $839.00

Additional Expenses:

  • DHS Background study initiation: $20.00.
  • DHS fingerprinting fee at approved site $9.10 to be paid at time of fingerprinting.
  • Textbook for MN State Nursing Assistant Course $30.00. Order online at http://www.campus-store.pine.edu/Home or call 320-629-5137.
  • Tuberculosis (TB) screening: Mantoux/ TB Skin Test (TST) or TB Blood Test. **Negative TB screening documentation must be provided to instructor prior to the first day of clinical.
  • Scrubs (will need prior to clinicals).
  • Watch with a second hand (students will need for class, clinicals and state exam).

 **Please note that State Requirements for nurse assistant certification differ from state to state, and PTCCCC offers two training options to accommodate the needs of students wishing to work in Minnesota and/or Wisconsin. Both training options include classroom instruction in anatomy and physiology, nutrition, and basic nursing skills. Students also gain hands-on experience within the “lab” portion of training.

Nursing Assistant Skills Refresher


This 6-hour skills refresher course will help participants fine tune skills needed to work as a nursing assistant and prepare them for successful completion of the MN State Competency Evaluation. Students spend the day with a nursing assistant instructor and state tester, practicing the 21 potential skills candidates may encounter during the state exam. Each skill will be demonstrated with time allowed to practice.

This course is beneficial for:

  • Those who desire more practice prior to the exam
  • Those who need more practice prior to a retest
  • Those who plan to challenge the test

Nursing Assistant Exam


The Nursing Assistant Competency Exam is offered to qualified candidates seeking placement on the MN Department of Health Registry, as required for employment in most nursing homes. State and federal laws require that most candidates for testing have completed a MN state-approved Nursing Assistant training program of 75 hours or more. The competency exam includes a written portion and a hands-on demonstration of nursing assistant skills and abilities. Pre-registration and payment are required. NO WALK INS ACCEPTED.
