Management Information Systems, Associate of Applied Science

The Management Information Systems Associate in Applied Sciences (MIS AAS) degree program provides students with practical and theoretical knowledge in the areas of business and information technology. The program prepares students for successful careers as business and information technology professionals through a curriculum that integrates studies of basic business concepts and general management principles, along with information technology knowledge and skills. Students investigate business processes related to the functional areas of business and gain experience with the most current technologies needed to support those processes. Program graduates possess a strong academic foundation which can lead to immediate workforce opportunities and/or transfer to either a Business or Information Technology bachelor’s degree program.

 Students will be able to:

  1. effectively use existing and emerging information systems to make and implement decisions in the business environment;
  2. demonstrate the ability to identify and understand basic theories, principles, practices and terminology related to areas of business and information technology;
  3. analyze and interpret information, evidence, arguments, and theories, in a disciplined and evaluative manner, in order to address business and technological problems and issues logically;
  4. demonstrate competency in communicating effectively using oral, written, and non-verbal techniques to include the use of technology in the gathering and presentation of information; and
  5. apply ethical principles and logical reasoning to make and justify business decisions.

Certificate (16 credits), Diploma (31 credits) and Associate of Applied Science (60 credits)
