REQUIREMENTS

To support your success at PTCC, many programs require specific tools, technology, and supplies. This page is your go-to resource for understanding what you’ll need before your first day of class and throughout your program.

Program-Specific Laptops, Supplies & Tools

Some programs require students to purchase or use specialized tools, uniforms, or supplies. These may include items such as:

  • Toolkits for technical or trades programs
  • Lab equipment for healthcare and science programs
  • Art or drafting supplies for design-related courses
  • Uniforms or protective gear
  • Laptop Computers

Some programs at PTCC require students to bring a laptop to class each day. Additionally, many PTCC courses use online platforms, specialized software, or hybrid learning formats, making reliable access to a laptop essential for success.

  • The following programs require students to have a Standard Model laptop:
    • Business
    • Human Services Eligibility Worker
    • Practical Nursing
    • Associate Degree Nursing
  • The following programs require students to have a Premium Model laptop:
    • Applied Engineering
    • Automation
    • Construction
    • Cyber Security
    • Gunsmithing
    • Management Information Systems
    • Networking
    • Precision Machining
  • Some programs do not require students to have a laptop, but students must have access to a computer that meets the necessary specifications to complete coursework.

Note: Chromebooks, tablets, and mobile devices may not be compatible with all required software. Please check with your instructor before using one as a primary device.

Need Help Getting a Laptop?
PTCC provides a laptop loan program for students in need, and many students use financial aid to purchase a laptop through the Campus Store.
