Library Services

Need help with research? Finding sources? Creating citations? Help with any of these (and more) is available online, 24/7! The Ask a Librarian 24/7 Chat connects students with a professional librarian.

  • Most library materials may be checked out for 21 days and may be renewed. Some library materials have restrictions and may only be checked out for shorter periods of time.
  • Fines will be charged if an item is lost, stolen, or damaged, and a hold will be placed on a student’s account if the fines exceed $500. A hold prevents a student from registering for classes or receiving grades and transcripts. Patrons may pay fines online with eServices (under Bills and Payment) or in person at the Campus Store.
  • Interlibrary loan, also called ILL, is a service where other libraries will provide and ship requested books, articles, and other materials to the library at PTCC for student and faculty use. You can access and request materials through OneSearch, MnLink, or WorldCat.
  • The majority of ILL services are free for you to use through PTCC.

The Library has limited laptops available for check-out. Submit the Laptop Request Form if interested.

*The form will open one week before the start of a semester. Beginning the first week of a semester, students will be contacted when a laptop is available for them.

The Library has limited hotspots available for check-out. Stop by or contact library@pine.edu if interested.

The library has several desktop computer stations available. Also, Library staff members are happy to answer questions about college email, D2L, campus Wi-Fi, free printing, or anything else technology-related.

  • Students can print, photocopy, and scan on the student printer in the library.
  • There is no cost for black-and-white copies and prints, while the cost is 10 cents per page for color.
  • A page is considered one side of a sheet of paper; one sheet can have up to two pages.
  • Each student starts with an automatic $2.00 on their account for color printing, or 20 pages.
  • Library staff members at the Service Desk are happy to assist with these services if you have any questions about printing or copying documents.

The Library has a study room equipped with a table, 5 chairs, and a TV that can be connected to a laptop. The study room can be reserved for two hours at a time, using the reservation sheet posted outside its door.
