Early Childhood Education Teaching Assistant Certificate

The purpose of the Early Childhood Education Teaching Assistant Certificate introduces students to essential skills for working in early childhood education settings. This 9‑credit program focuses on child development, behavior guidance, and health and safety, preparing students to support lead teachers and create safe, nurturing learning environments. Graduates gain the foundational knowledge needed for entry‑level roles in early learning programs and a pathway for continued education in early childhood credentials and degrees.

Early Childhood Education Certificate

The purpose of the Early Childhood Education Certificate provides educators with opportunities to build foundational teaching skills in child development, behavior guidance, and lesson planning. This fully online, 19‑credit program is a stackable credential that helps professionals enter or advance in the field of early childhood education and seamlessly build toward an associate degree and beyond.

Two Certificate Options

Students completing the Early Childhood Education Teaching Assistant Certificate will be able to:

  • employ skills in the areas of child health, wellness, and nutrition;
  • apply evidence-based teaching strategies that cater to the diverse needs of young learners, fostering engagement and promoting a positive learning environment; and
  • demonstrate professionalism in interactions with children, families, colleagues and community partners.

Students completing the Early Childhood Education Certificate will be able to:

  • employ skills in the areas of child health, wellness, and nutrition;
  • apply evidence-based teaching strategies that cater to the diverse needs of young learners, fostering engagement and promoting a positive learning environment;
  • explore the physical, cognitive, creative, social, and emotional development of children from birth to age eight; and
  • utilize content knowledge to design and implement meaningful curriculum.
