ASSOCIATE OF SCIENCE, CERTIFICATES

Prepare for a career in teaching with a seamless transfer pathway. The Associate of Science in Early Childhood Education builds strong foundations in child development, instructional design, and inclusive learning practices. Designed for transfer, this program allows students to continue toward bachelor’s degrees in early childhood, special education, or elementary education. Graduates are well-prepared for advanced study and future licensure pathways.

Two Certificate Options

Students completing this AS will be able to:

  • apply evidence-based teaching strategies that cater to the diverse needs of young learners, fostering engagement and promoting a positive learning environment;
  • employ content knowledge to design, implement, and assess meaningful developmentally appropriate curriculum;
  • use a variety of effective communication strategies with families to create a collaborative partnership in supporting children’s learning and development;
  • utilize basic observation techniques to assess children’s behavior, interactions, and developmental progress to make informed decisions and adapt teaching strategies;
  • engage in reflective practices to assess the effectiveness of teaching strategies and continuously improve instructional approaches;
  • integrate diverse perspectives and experiences into teaching practices, promoting cultural competency and global awareness; and
  • exhibit professionalism through effective communication, ethical practices, and commitment to ongoing professional development.
