The Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) course prepares individuals for employment in a variety of pre-hospital, industrial and first responder settings. The successful completion of an approved First Responder course is a pre-requisite to pursuing training as a Fire Fighter and many Law Enforcement programs.
The Emergency Medical Responder Initial (EMR-I) course provides instruction in emergency medical care for those who are first on the scene of an accident or medical emergency. This training is intended for police officers, firefighters and other public safety personnel.
The course includes: Patient assessment, CPR, airway management, medical emergencies including seizures, strokes, heart attacks and covers trauma management as well as bandaging, splinting and spinal immobilization. Students will be certified upon completion through the Minnesota Emergency Medical Services Regulatory Board.

Nationally registered EMRs are required to renew their certification every two years.

The full 16-hour course is $325.00 and includes instruction on both days.
Students needing specific skills and/or CPR recertification only, may take the individual skills assessments for $20/hour. CPR recertification is an additional $10 to cover the cost of your CPR card. This card is emailed directly to students by the American Heart Association.

EMT’s care for the sick or injured in emergency medical situations. People’s lives often depend on the fast and thoughtful actions made by EMT’s on the job. Employment of EMT’s is projected to grow 15% by 2026.
The EMT Initial (EMT-I) course is designed to teach emergency care and transportation of patients who access the emergency medical system. Students will acquire the skills and apply the knowledge of operational roles and responsibilities to ensure patient, public and personal safety.
Students will obtain skills in lifting and moving patients, airway management, respiration and artificial ventilation, patient assessment, medical emergencies and trauma.
Participants who successfully complete the courses will be eligible to take the National Registry of EMT’s practical and written examinations for the State and and National Certification as an Emergency Medical Technician.
The EMT National Continued Competency Program (NCCR) required a total of 40 hours of continuing education to recertify. The model contains three components: a national component, a local or state component, and an individual component. Our NCCR EMT Refresher (EMT-R) course will meet the 20-hour requirement of the National Requirement.
