We offer courses for riders of all experience levels; Basic Rider courses, Intermediate Rider courses, and Road Guard certification courses. Invest in your personal safety and the safety of others today.  Our instructors are certified by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) and dedicated to building and improving your riding skills. Head out to the open road feeling confident, carefree and safe!

Basic Rider Course

The MSF Basic e-Course is a highly interactive 5-hour online program that provides riders of all skill levels with the basics of motorcycling. The e-Course is a requirement that prepares you for the hands-on riding exercises.

The hands-on course is 11 hours.

On the riding range, your MSF certified RiderCoach will guide you through the basic skills of straight-line riding, stopping, shifting & turning, gradually progressing to swerving & emergency braking.

Motorcycles are provided for students enrolled in the Basic Rider Course. If you are an automatic scooter rider, you can bring your own scooter with proof of insurance if its less than 500cc, 400lbs or less, in good working condition & registered as a motorcycle.

Anyone from another state who is age 16 and has a valid driver’s license may take a Basic Rider Course from another state.

Our neighboring states of North Dakota and Wisconsin (check with your state) office reciprocity in that they recognize the BRC taught in Minnesota for motorcycle licensure. These states may still require the student to pass a permit test administered by their state’s licensing authority, but waive the riding skills test for successful passing of the entire course (MSF eCourse and riding skills). The MSF BRC Course Completion Card is issued to students who successfully complete the MSF eCourse and BRC riding skills test. The BRC completion card is valid for three years.

The Motorcycle Road Guard Certification course will train participants how to legally stop and control traffic for motorcycle group rides. Certified road guards will be able to stop traffic to allow group riders to pass through intersections and give traffic the all clear when it is safe to proceed. This course is 3 hours in length and includes classroom lecture and practical training at a live intersection near the training site.

Please note, class size is limited to 12 participants. If you have more than 12, your group must be split into more than one class.

For example, 24 participants will be split into two classes and 36 participants will be split into three classes, etc.

Training cannot run in the winter or when there is snow on the ground for safety reasons. Training can take place April – October each year, weather permitting.

We can bring the Road Guard Course to your Group at your site:

  • $300 Group Rate for up to 12 students per three hour course being offered.
  • $250 traveling fee per day.
  • Training must be done during daylight hours at a location that will accommodate the classroom training portion. Groups must supply a classroom space, a computer with Microsoft Powerpoint and a projector. The group must also make arrangements with their local law enforcement and a traffic engineer for a training intersection that conforms to the Field Guide standards in their area.
  • When choosing a training intersection, follow these tips:
    • Select an intersection near to a classroom space with room to legally park up to ten vehicles where they do not block the visibility of oncoming drivers.
    • The intersection needs to be a single-lane approach. Turn lanes are okay and traffic control devices are optional.
    • The intersection will need to have steady, but not heavy, traffic flow, so the practical portion of the course can move along without students waiting for traffic to show up.
    • The speed limit should be 45 mph or slower.
    • Schedule training to avoid rush hour or select an intersection that does not experience rush-hour congestion.
