Pine Technical & Community College’s Gunsmithing and Firearms Technology Program is committed to providing an opportunity for higher education in an affordable student-focused environment. The Gunsmithing and Firearms Technology Program offers comprehensive educational opportunities, including general and transfer education, technical program education and lifelong learning.    

This unique program brings innovation and diversity to PTCC by attracting passionate, career-focused individuals from areas across the country and is the only program of it’s kind in the state of Minnesota. The Pine Technical and Community College Gunsmithing and Firearms Technology Program is dedicated to providing the industries we serve with professional, trustworthy, competent, and confident entry level employees.

PROGRAM FACT SHEET         3 YEARS,  2 CAREERS

Students completing the AAS program will be able to: 

  • Display and practice appropriate industry specific safety standards as detailed by OSHA, NRA, and Manufacturers’ SDS. 
  • Apply appropriate industry principles and practices as determined by the firearms industry as well as established accessory and parts manufacturers. 
  • Practice quality principals through the expectations and use of customer and college repairs and modifications, as well as standards laid out by the program’s advisory board.  
  • Demonstrate up-to-date technical and computer skills, using CAD, CNC and Reverse Engineering technology and software. 
  • Apply technology to the use of digital media and electronic portfolios providing resources to the graduate after graduation. 
  • Troubleshoot, repair and evaluate mechanisms and machine-produce written or electronic media to support, and report their finding and solutions to the issue(s). 
  • Demonstrate ethical and professional practices: honesty, respect, teamwork, reliability, and initiative.

College ready assessment scores in reading and second level equivalent math assessment scores or completion of preparatory course work. A background check is required.
