Manufacturing Foundations

PTCC is a Manufacturing and Applied Engineering Center of Excellence and one partner in a special collaboration of select MnSCU campuses that are bringing valuable resources to potential students, current students, and business and industry.

In 2006, Bemidji State University began working with many community and technical colleges across Minnesota as partners in the Center of Excellence including Central Lakes College; Lake Superior College; Minneapolis Community and Technical College; Northland Community and Technical College; Northwest Technical College – Bemidji; Pine Technical College; Riverland Community College; Saint Paul College; St. Cloud Technical and Community College.

Now called 360°, the collaboration offers unique distance-learning certificates of Production Technologies and Welding Technology.

Production Technologies

This certificate provides courses designed to be an introduction to production technologies and welding fundamentals to start students on a career pathway. Included in coursework, students will engage in topics of technical mathematics, introductory computer skills, print interpretation, manufacturing processes, quality control, maintenance, and safety. Also included in coursework; students will engage in topics of welding print reading and interpreting symbols, following welding procedures, safety, metallurgy and mechanical properties of materials, and hands-on experience with specific welding processes including oxyacetylene cutting and welding, shielded metal arc welding, gas metal arc welding, flux core arc welding, and gas tungsten arc welding.
