It’s easy and free to sign up! Access eServices Text Messaging Service. (Fees, depending upon your carrier, may apply.)

Note on Emergency Text Messages:

This service does not automatically include emergency messaging. Phone numbers entered into eServices may take up to a week to be updated in StarAlert. We recommend logging into StarAlert to verify your information.

How Does it Work?

All students enrolled in one or more credit-based courses at PTCC will receive emergency messages through their official college email addresses.

If you have signed up to receive text messages from PTCC through the eServices (the grades and registration portal), the cell phone number you entered will also receive text messages through the StarAlert system.

We recommend that you log into the StarAlert system to verify your information. You may also add additional mobile phone numbers, voice phone numbers, or personal email addresses.

Log into the StarAlert System

Logging in is quick and easy. The first time you access the system, select Sign Me Up and log in using your first name and last name and your StarID@pine.edu email address. Your identification code will be your StarID.

You can find detailed instructions here: Pine Technical and Community College StarAlert System Documentation

Participants must be able to receive text or e-mail messages on their cell phones. Information submitted through the registration process will only be used for the StarAlert system.

We also recommend all students sign up to receive text messages through eServices. You can learn how to sign up for text message communications here: How to enroll in text message notification.

StarID is a single credential that will simplify your life on campus by providing one username and password for several tools including student email, campus classroom and lab computers, network based printing and other network services, eServices, D2L Brightspace, Atomic Learning, and online library databases.

To access your account to change or recover your password, activate your account, and other options, please visit the StarID Self Service page. If you need to activate your StarID, you’ll have to verify your identity before claiming your StarID and setting your password.

  • Tech ID (Student ID).  Select Pine Technical College and then enter your eight digit Student ID and your social security number.
  • Library Card Number.  Select Pine Technical College and then enter the 14 character number from your library card and your social security number.
  • Personal Email Address.   Enter the personal email address that’s on your eServices account. The system will send a verification code to the email address.  You can then use the Verification Code option to continue.

If you do not have a social security number on your student record and you do not have a personal email address on your eServices account, please visit with a member of staff in the Library. They will issue a temporary Verification Code that will allow you to activate your StarID. If you have any further trouble, please contact the PTCC Helpdesk or visit StarID Help and FAQs.

Please Note: If you are enrolled in multiple Minnesota State Colleges and Universities institutions, your StarID will be the same for all institutions who have implemented the service.
