Fire Fighting Courses

Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) training prepares first responders, hospital personnel, school systems and the general public for events that overwhelm the local healthcare system and exceed the local resources capabilities in a short period of time. Emergency Preparedness can help mitigate the trauma, injury or death resulting from the incident.

MCI’s can occur from many causes such as:

  • Violence, such as mass shootings
  • Severe Weather or Natural Disasters
  • Transportation incidents/collisions
  • Chemical, biological or radiological events

2-3 instructors will come to your facility to conduct the 4-hour training session. Training sessions will include a PowerPoint presentation, Q & A and a large-scale map. Students will participate in a hands-on experience, assuming different roles (Fire, EMS, Law Enforcement etc.) as instructors run various MCI scenarios

Course Objectives

  • Promote emergency preparedness
  • Train personnel in emergency duties and operational capabilities
  • Review resources for MCI events
  • Learn the various roles/responsibilities of the responder
  • Review the order of triage
  • Students will participate in simulated scenarios using a large-scale map

Firefighters are routinely exposed to stress-inducing and psychologically taxing situations throughout their careers. As such, they are at high risk for trauma and stress-related disorders. This educational session is designed to explore many facets of this serious phenomenon and provide the base understanding and knowledge necessary to implement a department prevention and mitigation program.

Cancer is an ever-present danger that firefighters are encountering in today’s modern fires. Our course is designed to offer firefighters and department personnel of all levels a basic awareness, understanding and preventative measures to begin reducing your risk today.

This class teaches the unseen risks that are present in smoke. We cover the more prevalent byproducts of combustion involved in a structure fire, specifically hydrogen cyanide and carbon monoxide. This class will explain the effects of fire gases on the human body and what to do in the event of a possible exposure to a toxic byproduct. You will learn about atmospheric monitors and best practices with a live demonstration. This is a 3 hour class that can be scheduled at your department on a drill night. Please contact us for more information or to schedule a class for your department.

This is a 140 hour class that will cover all FFI, HazMat and FFII that meets the NFPA 1001 level. The class includes all books and testing including MN State Certification up to the FFII level.

This 8 hour class is designed to be an intro to incident command for those with little or no experience in command and for those officers who have not been in command on a regular basis who may need a refresher as to what to look for. This class will discuss incident command, risk/reward, strategy and tactics, size-up, basic building construction and resource management.

Students will learn through classroom and behind the wheel instruction. A heavy focus will be placed on learning to safely operate the vehicles that you drive regularly at your department. Note: PPE, SCBA and Department Vehicles required.

This class is for any fire personnel who need direction beyond “getting water” from a pumper. The class covers intro to apparatus pumps, reading gauges, working parts and trouble shooting, friction loss, water sources (hydrant and static) and how to get water, drivers responsibilities and safety, and includes hands-on operation. This is a 12 hour course. Please call for information and to schedule this at your department.

This 2 hour class is designed for the average citizen who would like to know how to use extinguishers and where it is practical to do so. This is designed for employees of businesses, daycare providers, police officers and the general public.
