Meet Our New Welding Instructor: Dylan Strait

From welding alongside his father as a kid to owning and operating his own fabrication business, Dylan Strait has built his career through hard work, determination, and a passion for the trade.

Dylan’s welding journey began when he was around 10 years old, building a torch cart with his dad. That early experience sparked an interest that only grew stronger. In high school, a shop teacher recognized his talent and encouraged him to take welding seriously, a turning point that led Dylan to pursue Welding Technology at Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College.

After college, Dylan gained valuable industry experience welding pipeline, working on underground boring projects in North Dakota, and eventually launching DCS Welding in Webster, Wisconsin, where he continues to own and operate his business.

Now, Dylan is bringing his real-world experience to Pine Technical & Community College’s state-of-the-art welding lab. He is excited to help shape one of the strongest technical welding programs in the region by preparing students for successful careers in today’s workforce.

“I want students to become knowledgeable welders who are ready for real careers,” Dylan says. “The work isn’t always easy, but if you’re willing to work hard, accept constructive criticism, and keep learning, you’ll succeed.”

As both a business owner and instructor, Dylan believes the best education combines technical skills with real-world experience. He hopes to expand the program’s fabrication opportunities and incorporate industry projects so students graduate with experience completing jobs from start to finish.

Outside of work, Dylan enjoys snowmobiling, ice fishing, demolition derbies, and, of course, welding. He describes himself as an open book who believes in being honest, approachable, and supportive. His goal is for every student to know they have someone they can trust, both in and out of the classroom.

Please join us in welcoming Dylan Strait to the PTCC family. We’re excited to see the impact he’ll have on our students and the future of Welding Technology.
